Jayesh Patel is a
partner of Pumilia Patel & Adamec LLP, and practices in general
litigation with a focus on: complex commercial disputes;
corporate litigation; partnership, corporate and law firm risk
management and errors and omissions; securities and broker-dealer
errors and omissions; construction defects; and appeals. Mr. Patel
has also served as general corporate counsel, and has acted as a
member of the Board of Advisors to several start-up technology
companies.
Mr. Patel graduated
Cum Laude, with a Bachelors degree in Finance, from the University
of California at Berkeley in 1984, where he also obtained his law
degree in 1987. While at Boalt Hall, Mr. Patel served as the
Associate Editor and then the Programs Director of the Ecology Law
Quarterly, and received a Moot Court Commendation.
Mr. Patel is a member
of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before
all of the state courts in California, the States District Courts of
California (Central and Northern), and Hawaii, and the Ninth Circuit
Court of Appeals. He has tried significant jury and non-jury
trials, and judicial and non-judicial arbitrations in professional
liability, commercial and securities cases. Mr. Patel has
acted as outside general counsel for a number of private and public
companies, with a primary focus on business strategies, and
developing the legal solutions to basic governance and
administration issues, as well as specialized projects, including
intellectual property and licensing issues for technology projects.
Mr. Patel has assisted companies in developing capitalization
strategies and in negotiating strategic alliances. He has
briefed and argued numerous non-published appeals in state courts,
and two published Court of Appeals decisions.
Mr. Patel has been
listed among the California "Super Lawyers" (Los Angeles Magazine
2005, 2006 and 2007) (www.superlawyers.com), and has co-authored
Expert Grilling, Los Angeles Lawyer (November 2001) (with David
B. Parker and William K. Mills).
Mr. Patel is a member
of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and a founding member
of the former Indian American Lawyers Association in Los Angeles.
Mr. Patel has also served as a Member of the International Board of
Directors for the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO).
